ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED AT ST. JOSEPH'S HOME FOR THE AGED, SIOLIM, GOA 2025
Few senior citizens, members of the St. Josephs Home for the Aged, Siolim, Goa, profitably use their time by making blankets and dresses for small children. The dresses and blankets were made from waste material and were distributed to the migrants in our area, and the dresses for babies to the vulnerable families.
An NGO, Vridhicare, from Delhi, donated wheelchairs and walkers to the inmates of St Joseph’s Home.
The Sister Nurse in the Home, conducts physiotherapy for our inmates, to help in their mobility. This is very profitable, and enables the members to move from their beds to the Hall for exercises. This procedure is continued faithfully each day.
The Primary Health Center, with a doctor and nurses, occasionally visit the members for their regular checkups. This is essential to maintain good health, preventing illnesses and detecting health issues early. It also helps in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid etc. Personalized health advice is given to the members and free medicines dispensed to them accordingly.
A carnival event name COOJ was arranged for the members. They were taken to a nearby old age home, so that, social interaction can take place among the members to alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness. It helps in reducing depression and anxieties.
